I am overjoyed to be a member of the wheezy Pidge! Alfred University is where I met most of my fellow pidge mates, and it is also where I attained a bachelors degree in fine arts with a concentration in oil painting. Two years after my undergrad graduation I completed the graduate art therapy program at New York University. My earlier works are large-scale, detailed oil paintings that are based on researched topics... oh the dream world of college life. Unfortunately, reality slapped me in the face when I graduated from Alfred, and I have lacked the time and resources to produce artwork of that caliber. The upside to these annoying life circumstances is that I have been forced to change the elements of my artistic mediums. This abrupt removal from my comfort zone has changed my outlook on the intent of art making processes. I had a tendency to be very product oriented, and this made my creative process very long and grueling. At times I even dreaded going to the studio. At this point in my life I have stopped worrying about the product and started focusing on the child-like joy of making art. That's why we all started in the first place, right? To conclude this long and drawn out (<3 puns) biography, many of the pieces that I will be posting on the wheezy pidge will be "reaction art". This is a term used in art therapy to describe art that is made as a direct reflection of any feelings and/or thoughts that were elicited by a specific person, place, or event. These quick works will be accompanied by short summaries that will be more interesting than the actual events they are portraying; I hope you enjoy them!!
